My interests are in agricultural biotechnology. I'm currently president of Targeted Growth Inc (TGI), a Seattle, WA startup focused on crop yield improvement and biofuels applications. Before to joining TGI in 2007 I worked for Pioneer Hi-Bred (www.pioneer.com) as a Senior Director in their Business Development and Trait Strategy groups. Pioneer is the world`s leading developer and supplier of advanced plant genetics to farmers worldwide. Prior to joining Pioneer I work as Vice-President of Business Development & Operations for Verdia Inc. a Silicon Valley agricultural biotechnology company, Verdia's directed molecular evolution technologies consisted of a toolbox of recombination and screening systems to optimize genes and proteins for use in transgenic agriculture. Before to joining Verdia I worked with the biotechnology group at DEKALB Genetics Corporation, then the second largest corn seed company in the USA. At DEKALB I was responsible for transgenic corn product development participating in the development of insect and herbicide tolerant corn products.
My research interests are in agricultural biotechnology: transgenic product development; enabling technology development for agricultural biotechnology and strategy, planning and business development associated with the commercialization of transgenic and genomics technologies.
?Member BIO Food and Agriculture Governing Board ?Review services for USDA Small Business Development Program, USDA Small Business Innovation Research Program, USDA National Research Initiative Competitive Grants Program (Plants), USDA National Research Initiative Competitive Grants Program (Markets and Trade), USDA CRIS Grants Program, Australian Research Council Grants Program.
I currently lecture course on transgenic product development in agriculture (PL BR 604) and the applications of molecular biology (BIO BM434).
