The plant breeding extension program seeks to serve farmers, seed producers and distributors and consumers with improved cultivars for production in New York State.  The department conducts field trials of hybrid corn, cereal grains, and forages and publishes annual results and recommendations.  It also administers seed and seed potato certification for New York.  Several research programs focus on vegetable production in collaboration with the horticultural department.  In addition, members of the plant breeding faculty are involved with many special programs at Cornell to serve small-scale farmers, businesses and  communities in the region.  Check out the following pages for specific information about our activities and resources.
