Lab members:

Chris Bozza

Graduate student

B.S.: Rutgers University

About Chris:
Chris is a native of New Jersey. He came to Cornell as a graduate student in Plant Biology in 2004 and joined the Pawlowski lab in summer of 2005. His thesis project is on chracterization and cloning of DsyCS and SegII, two maize genes controlling homologous chromosome pairing in meiosis. Chris is the only person we know, who can multiply four-digit numbers without using a pen or a calculator.

Patricia Eliasinski

Undergradute student

About Patricia:
Patricia is a Cornell junior and started in the Pawlowski lab in the fall of 2007. She comes from Long Island. In Summer 2008, Patricia is one of Cornell's Undergraduate Hughes Scholars. She studies natural variation in the recombination pathway in maize.
Kendra Hutchins

Graduate student

B.S.: University of Massachusetts

About Kendra:
Kendra is a first year graduate student in Plant Breeding. She is doing a rotation in the Pawlowski lab, studying recombination in the heterochromatic B chromosomes in maize.

Emily Pinto

Summer intern

About Emily:
Emily is a junior majoring in biology and Spanish at Emory University. She is spending the summer with us as an intern of the Cornell/BTI Plant Genome Research Outreach Program. She is helping Chris in cloning the SegII gene.
Arnaud Ronceret

Postdoc

B.S.: University of Paris VII, France
M.S.: University of Montpellier II, France
Ph.D.: University of Perpignan, France

About Arnaud:
After living for several years in the south of France, Arnaud, in a moment of insanity in early 2005, decided to join the Pawlowski lab. He now works on the Phs1 gene in maize and Arabidopsis. In addition to a Ph.D., Arnaud holds an airplane private pilot license.

Moira Sheehan

Postdoc

B.S.: Virginia Tech
Ph.D.: Cornell

About Moira:
An Irish-Polish hybrid, Moira comes from Buffalo, NY. She joined the Pawlowski lab in early 2006, after finishing her Ph.D. in the Brutnell lab at Cornell. She studies the function of the telomere bouquet in maize. In 2007, Moira was one of four contributors to the Nature Postdoc Journal.

Gagan Sidhu

Graduate student

B.S.: Punjab Agricultural University, India
M.S.: Washington State University

About Gagan:
Gagan is a native of India. She joined the Pawlowski lab in the fall of 2006 as a graduate student in Plant Breeding and Genetics. She is interested in the a between chromatin structure and homologous chromosome pairing in Arabidopsis. Gagan is also an accomplished clothing designer.

Tomek Warzecha

Visiting scientist

M.S.: Agricultural University, Cracow, Poland
Ph.D.: Agricultural University, Cracow, Poland

About Tomek:
Tomek is a scientists at the Department of Plant Breeding, Agricultural University of Cracow in Poland. He came to the Pawlowski lab in April 2008 and will spend three months with us. He is involved in a project to examine variation in meiotic recombination proteins in a set of diverse maize inbreds.

Emeritus personnel:

Brandon Lemesh

Undergradute student

About Brandon:
Brandon was an undergraduate student in the lab from August 2006 to December 2007. He came to Cornell from the sunny San Mateo, CA. In the Pawlowski lab, he studied natural variation in the recombination pathway in maize.

Jessica Szymaniak

Technician

B.S.: University of Rochester

About Jessica:
Jessica was a technician in the Pawlowski lab from January 2005 to November 2006. She is now a student in the Genetics Counseling Program at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.

Junliang Zhao

Visiting scientist

About Junliang:
Junliang is a scientist at the Shanxi Academy of Agricultural Science in China. He stayed in the Pawlowski lab from September 2006 to August 2007 as a Chinese government fellow.
Visitors:
From September 24 to Spetember 28, 2007, we hosted Scott Boden and Wayne Crismani, Ph.D. students from the University of Adelaide, Australia. Scott and Wayne came here to learn how to do immunolocalization of meiotic proteins.
