My background is in plant and animal breeding with a focus on advanced modeling and computational science for improving the efficiency of breeding programs and increasing understanding of complex traits.

Research Focus

My lab conducts research to develop and implement advanced modeling and informatics capabilities to improve decision making and understanding of complex traits. Currently the lab is focused on bioenergy, genomic selection, phenomics, and increasing understanding of genotype by environmental interactions. My lab works with multiple crops and research is conducted in collaboration with breeding programs in the United States, Africa, and Asia.

Outreach and Extension Focus

My lab is involved in multiple collaborations with international breeding programs. Currently we are working with the CGIAR (a global research partnership for a food secure future dedicated to reducing poverty, enhancing food and nutrition security, and improving natural resources) to improve the effectiveness of breeding programs in Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia.
